1. Service Description

Tsundoku is an AI-powered book recommendation platform that helps readers track their libraries, discover new books, and receive personalized recommendations. The service is provided by Tsundoku ("we", "us", "our") and accessible at our website.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Tsundoku. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that all information you provide is accurate.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your password or allow others to access your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Subscriptions and Payment

Tsundoku offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription. Payment is processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing to Pro, you authorize recurring charges at the rate displayed at checkout (monthly or annual). You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings; access continues until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the service
  • Upload malicious content or attempt to compromise the platform's security
  • Abuse API rate limits or circumvent usage quotas
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you provide, including reading lists, ratings, and reviews. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to process and display this content as necessary to provide the service (e.g., generating recommendations based on your reading history). You may export or delete your data at any time.

7. Intellectual Property

The Tsundoku name, logo, design, and software are our intellectual property. Book metadata, cover images, and descriptions are sourced from third-party providers (Google Books, Open Library, ISBNdb) and remain the property of their respective owners. AI-generated recommendations and reading insights are provided for personal use only.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. AI-generated recommendations are suggestions only and may not always match your preferences. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of book metadata sourced from third parties.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tsundoku shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or engage in conduct that is harmful to other users or the service. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
